$85 for one graduate credit hour
· Students will be required to attend the entire conference and participate in workshops and presentations.· Students will be required to document the workshops or presentation and write a brief one paragraph reflection on what they've gained.· Students will be required to photograph any projects created and include them in their reflection.· Homework is required and is due by November 12, 2018 and should be emailed to Shawny Montgomery· As homework students must create a lesson plan inspired by something they learned (see attached lesson plan template COMING SOON) and also create an exemplar for the lesson plan, photograph it and include it with the lesson plan.

KAEA Fall 2019 Conference: Creating Cultural Connections
Instructor: Shawny Montgomery
Creating Cultural Connections will be the theme for the professional development conference and will feature keynote speaker Preston Singletary glass artist and musician, who renders traditional Tlingit forms in nontraditional medium of glass. The conference will be hosted at Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. Fifty-six different learning opportunities will be provided, ranging from hands-on workshops and lectures. Participants will have authentic cultural learning experiences to share with students and engage them in effective cultural connections, collaboration, and in critical and creative thinking. Each participant will have a different experience depending on what intensive workshop they choose. 
The learning can then be implemented into the classroom to increase educator effectiveness and that impacts students. Students will be required to create a lesson plan based off one workshop experience or a Cultural relevant workshops that directly engages students.
