Johnson County Community College

Since the founding in 1969, Johnson County Community College has offered quality education and training to meet workforce, economic and lifelong learning needs of the community. We are proud of our past and inspired by the possibilities of the future as an institution of higher learning. At JCCC, community is core to our mission. We know that learning strengthens communities, and we are committed to doing just that. Events and activities, youth programs, and arts and culture are just a few of the ways we serve our students and Johnson County.
2019 is JCCC’s 50th anniversary, and programs and celebrations are scheduled throughout the year bringing the college and community together. Our new Fine Arts & Design Studio building completes the “Arts District” on the northeast side of campus. Fostering a culture of excellence and meaningful civic involvement for nearly 40,000 students annually, we continue to expand the number of direct transfer agreements with universities and colleges in Kansas and the Midwestern region.
The Nerman Museum is the largest contemporary art museum in the 4-state region, and we showcase ten changing exhibitions per year. For over a decade we have been building our collection of major works by contemporary American Indian artists – three hallways with American Indian art showcase artwork in diverse media from artists representing dozens of cultures. A total of 400 artworks from our permanent collection are on view seven days a week in the campus halls and outdoors in addition to the museum’s second floor galleries. The museum provides an array of educational programming and resources for the college and the community.
Our campus has a major performing arts venue adjacent to the museum: the Carlsen Center. JCCC Performing Arts Education is a Kennedy Center partner with Shawnee Mission School district, Liberty Schools and Kansas City Young Audiences. The college provides professional development opportunities for K-12 arts integration throughout the year.
Visitors enjoy free parking and free general admission to the museum. Join us as we honor our past and aspire to be stronger in the future.
